United Against Digital Violence: A Joint 16 Days of Activism Event

For one more year, KMEWO together with IMECE, LAWA and the Islington Harmful Practices Forum organised a joint event marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls and the 16 Days of Activism. The event focused on Online Abuse, reflecting the theme of the year.
Directors from the three organisations spoke about digital abuse, the current challenges women’s organisations are facing amid a severe funding crisis, and the impact of structural racism. At the same time, they celebrated the strength of partnership, emphasising the need for collaboration and the benefits of working together to complement each other’s services.

The event was also attended by Saiqa Pandor, Labour Councillor for St Mary’s and St James in the London Borough of Islington, as well as Catherine Briody, Head of VAWG and Young Safety Commissioning in Islington.
Participants had the opportunity to join a workshop on Digital Abuse and take part in a range of activities, including Face Yoga and traditional dances.
