Barnet Launches New DA & VAWG Strategy 2025–29

Barnet Council has launched its Domestic Abuse (DA) and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy 2025–29 bringing together key partners, specialist organisations and community services at an event held on 2 December 2025 at The Meritage Centre.
Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s attended the event showcasing its vital role in supporting Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African women facing domestic abuse and harmful practices. KMEWO’s involvement highlights Barnet’s commitment to culturally informed, community-led approaches to survivor support, early intervention and prevention.
Speakers included Cllr Sara Conway, senior leaders from Barnet Council, the Metropolitan Police, Arts Against Knives, and other frontline specialists who presented initiatives such as the Culturally Integrated Family Approach (CIFA), Barnet Safe Havens, and the Step In Campaign. The event also explored emerging priorities, including tackling digital abuse and supporting young survivors.
The launch marks a strengthened multi-agency commitment to preventing abuse, protecting survivors and ensuring all women and girls in Barnet can access support.
