Statement On VAWG And Crisis In Afghanistan

We are deeply concerned for the lives and safety of women and their families who are currently at grave risk of persecution and death as a result of the crisis in Afghanistan. As a specialist Led ‘By and For” service supporting Kurdish Middle Eastern and North African women, we understand the devastating impact of war and violence on women and girls. All women deserve to live a life in dignity and free from violence.

We join our sisters and human rights activists, in the urgent call for the UK government to take immediate and necessary humanitarian action, to create urgent pathways to protection and safety for Afghan women and girls, including legal provisions, safe evacuations and international aid.

We are reaffirm our commitment to upholding the fundamental human rights of women, and ending all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). We will continue to work alongside our sisters and key stakeholders to ensure key provisions are in place, and ensuring victim and survivors are able to access intersectional advocacy and support, through their journey to safety and recovery.
