Support with the Cost-of-Living Crisis
The rising cost of living disproportionately affects survivors of domestic abuse who are often unable to leave abusive relationships, as they can’t secure a livelihood. For women from Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African backgrounds the impact can be more severe. The community faces high rates of poverty, unemployment, inadequate housing, insecure immigration status leading to No Recourse to Public Funds and limited access to services due to language and cultural barriers.
Being mindful of the impact of the current rise in the cost of living in regard to their safety and living conditions, we provide immediate support for Black and Minoritised survivors of domestic abuse and harmful practices through:
- emergency funds
- food vouchers
- clothing
- Short-period safe accommodation at a hotel
In 2023-2024 48 women received immediate support with the rise of cost of living.
